According to the Nigerian Communications Commission, Nigeria's internet subscribers totalled 134.78 million in October 2024, up 1.88 million from 132.9 million in September 2024.

This growth reflects the ongoing expansion of internet access and connectivity across the country.

On Wednesday, the NCC released its October 2024 industry report, which revealed that mobile GSM accounted for 134.27 million of the total 134.78 million internet subscribers.

The remaining subscribers were divided into fixed wired and VoIP services. This demonstrates the prevalence of mobile internet use in Nigeria's telecom sector.

According to the NCC's report, all telecommunications companies saw a significant increase in internet subscriptions in October 2024, with the exception of 9mobile, which increased its subscriber base during the period under review.

In October 2024, MTN Nigeria's internet subscribers increased by 1.13 million to 69.52 million, up from 68.39 million in September.

Airtel followed, increasing its subscriber base by 678,219, from 44.79 million to 45.47 million.

The NCC's industry data revealed that broadband penetration in Nigeria increased from 41.56% in September 2024 to 42.24% in October 2024.
