I’m not a politician, says NNPCL GCEO Ojulari
The Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Bayo Ojulari, stated on Thursday that he is not involved in politics, mentioning that he will need to familiarize himself more with political matters. He made this comment while hosting a delegation from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, led by President Festus Osifo, at the NNPCL headquarters in Abuja.
Ojulari expressed, “I’m transparent about my position; I’m not a politician. I need to gain a deeper understanding of politics, but to me, it's about a development strategy, and I am open to learning.”
He emphasized that the company is focused on revitalizing idle refineries to operate at their full potential, revealing that management is considering a model similar to that of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas.
The NNPCL executive also voiced concerns regarding threats to his life and to some members of the company's leadership team.
Ojulari mentioned that his primary “offence” lies in the reforms he has implemented in the oil and gas industry, following President Bola Tinubu’s directive to rejuvenate the nation’s struggling refineries, adding that some influential parties were scheming to remove him.
In spite of what he called attempts to intimidate him, Ojulari maintained his commitment to ensuring the effectiveness of the refinery rehabilitation initiative.
