Tax reform bills right move, says Oyedele
The new tax reform bills currently being debated in Nigeria's National Assembly seek to halt revenue collection by federal agencies such as the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission and the Nigerian Customs Service.
This was revealed by Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Tax Committee, in an interview with Channels TV on Friday.
Oyedele explained that the reform aims to prevent approximately 60 federal agencies from collecting taxes, allowing them to focus on their core functions and responsibilities.
Oyedele emphasised that the new measures are intended to simplify tax collection throughout the country, making it more efficient and effective.
The proposed bill states that all federal taxes will be collected by the Federal Inland Revenue Service.
