National grid did not collapse – Official
The Nigeria National Grid Centre has denied reports of a nationwide grid failure on Saturday, January 11, 2025.In a post on its official X handle, the Centre addressed the widely circulated rumours and confirmed that the grid was still stable.
It stated in its post, "Please ignore rumours of a grid collapse today. "It's false!"
As previously reported, the National Grid experienced its first collapse of the year today.
According to the Nigerian System Operator's portal (niggrid.org), the collapse took place at 1:56pm.
The portal then provided an update: "Restoration has begun." As of 02:40 p.m., we are generating 302MW.
However, the Nigeria National Grid Centre has denied the rumour, claiming that the reports were false.
This incident fits into a pattern of power instability, with the grid reportedly experiencing 12 consecutive collapses in 2024.
