Tinubu condemns Plateau travellers killings, orders perpetrators’ arrest
President Bola Tinubu has denounced the recent murder of travelers in Plateau State, labeling the attack as “intolerable and barbaric.”He has also instructed security agencies to ensure that the offenders are quickly caught and punished.
This information was shared in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy), Bayo Onanuga, on Sunday.
The statement said, “President Bola Tinubu has denounced the murder of travelers in Plateau State, urging law enforcement to ensure the apprehension and punishment of those responsible.
“Following the tragic news of the killing of 12 wedding attendees, including the groom's father and brother, the President condemned the brutal act as intolerable and barbaric.
“The victims, many of whom were injured, were traveling from Zaria in Kaduna State to Jos in Plateau State. President Tinubu has directed the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) to collaborate with other security and intelligence agencies to ensure accountability for the attack.
“The President called for calm and stated that he would not allow this monstrous act to go unpunished. The Plateau State government must take firm action to address these cycles of violence.
“The state government should work alongside security forces to investigate this recent occurrence and use it as a deterrent against future incidents.
“The freedom of movement for all citizens is non-negotiable. We will not accept any efforts by individuals or groups to infringe upon that fundamental freedom through acts of extreme violence and intimidation.
“The President extends his condolences to the families of the victims and to the people and government of Kaduna State.”
