Yoruba Youth Socio-cultural Association gives Macban 72 hours to produce killers of Pa Fasoranti’s daughter

YORUBA Youth Socio-cultural Association (YYSA) leaders have given the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (Macban) 72 hours to fish out the murderers of Funke Olakunrin the daughter of its chairman Reuben Fasoranti of face the consequences.

Yesterday, Mrs Olakunrin, 58, was murdered at Ore in Ondo State when armed men came out of the bush and sprayed her vehicle with bullets while she waited at a toll gate. Of late, armed Fulani herdsmen have declared war on Nigeria, stepping up armed attacks, kidnappings, rapes and robberies across the country.

Incensed by the latest attack which has described as a step too far, YYSA said it is giving Macban three days to apprehend the killers of Mrs Olakunrin. YYSA national president Olalekan Hammed, said it will convene an emergency meeting today to discuss its next line of action after the ultimatum elapses.

Mr Hammed added: “We receive the news of the sudden death of Mrs. Olakunrin with great shock. We want the federal government to order immediate investigation on the matter because the culprits should not go unpunished.

“We also give the so-called Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Ondo State chapter, three days to fish out the suspected killers of Mrs Olakunrin. We are having an emergency meeting today in Ibadan to discuss the next line of action.”

However, the Ondo State Police Command has claimed that Mrs Olakunrin was the victim of an armed robbery attack. According to the police, she was attacked by masked men who came out of the bush and attacked her vehicle.

Mrs Olakunrin is the second child of Pa Fasoranti, 94 to die as he lost his daughter, Bunmi, some years ago. Yesterday, Mr Olakunrin died in hospital where she was taken to after suffering from gunshot wounds.
