The grand culmination of the 2022/2023 Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) Youth Peace and Unity Football Competition, organized by Major-General Abdulsalam Abubakar, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 3 Division in Jos, took place at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium in Jos.

The tournament's final match featured Kanke Lions FC from Plateau and Jama’a Local Government Authority FC from Kaduna State. Its primary objectives were to promote unity and address youth restiveness within the operational areas covered by OPSH across Bauchi, Kaduna, and Plateau states.

The competition also sought to combat insecurity and enhance mutual understanding among the region's youth. Following the tournament's conclusion, General Abubakar delivered remarks in which he encouraged the youth to prioritize unity in their decision-making processes.

Brigadier-General A. A. Egbejule, the Chief of Staff of the Operation, represented the OPSH Commander. He recognized the tournament as a valuable initiative aimed at fostering grassroots sports development within OPSH Joint Operation Areas and promoting a harmonious coexistence among individuals from diverse backgrounds. He urged the youth to play a leading role in ensuring peaceful coexistence for the meaningful development of their states.

General Abubakar implored the audience to become peace ambassadors and cautioned the youth against engaging in activities that could jeopardize the peace of their respective communities. He also advised them not to be lured into nefarious activities that might negatively impact their futures. In addition, he urged the football players to make the most of the tournament's opportunity to enhance their potential and become better athletes in the sport of football.

At the competition's conclusion, Kanke Lions FC from Plateau State emerged as the champions, defeating Jama’a Local Government from Kaduna State. Sanga Local Government secured the third position after prevailing over Tafawa Balewa Council of Bauchi.

The event's highlights included medal presentations, cash awards to the top three positions, and recognition of individuals who excelled during the tournament.
