Former Super Eagles Coach, Eguavoen, Discloses Top Contender for 2023 AFCON Victory

Augustine Eguavoen, the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), is optimistic about the Super Eagles' chances of winning the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024, in Cote d’Ivoire.

The 58-year-old former Super Eagles manager believes that the national team possesses the essential qualities to secure victory in the upcoming competition. Eguavoen is determined to lead the Super Eagles to their fourth AFCON title, with the last triumph dating back to 2013 in South Africa.

Placed in Group A alongside the host nation, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau, the Super Eagles, under the guidance of Jose Peseiro, are seen by Eguavoen as having the potential to overcome the other 23 teams and claim the coveted title.

While acknowledging the challenges, Eguavoen expressed confidence in the team's capacity and quality. He emphasized the collective effort required, urging support for the team, coaches, and players. Eguavoen emphasized that winning the AFCON title is a shared goal that demands dedication and collaboration from everyone involved.
