Chiedozie Ogbene Holds Title for Fastest Premier League Player in 2023-2024 Season

Chiedozie Ogbene, the Nigerian-born Irish winger, has claimed the title of the fastest player in the English Premier League for the 2023-2024 season. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, on May 1, 1997, Ogbene recorded an impressive speed of 36.93 km/hr while playing for the newly promoted Premier League club, Luton Town.

Despite his remarkable speed, the 26-year-old winger has scored only one goal in 12 Premier League games. Ogbene began his football journey in Ireland after moving there with his Nigerian parents and siblings in 2005. Starting with the Cork City youth team, he progressed to the senior team in 2016.

Following a brief stint at Brentford in 2018, Ogbene found himself at lower-league clubs like Exeter City and Rotherham on loan. He joined Luton Town in July 2023, shortly after the club secured promotion to the Premier League, and has since played 14 games in all competitions.

Ogbene made his debut for Ireland, his adopted home, on June 8, 2021, and has played 19 times for the country's senior team, scoring four goals.

The top ten fastest players in the Premier League for the 2023-2024 season include Pedro Neto, Dominik Szoboszlai, Dara O’Shea, Anthony Gordon, Amadou Onana, Tahith Chong, Dominic Solanke, Bryan Mbuemo, and Sander Berge. Ogbene leads the list with an impressive speed of 36.93 km/hr.
