American Icons Assert That Only Anthony Joshua Can Beat Fury

Boxing legend Evander Holyfield believes that Nigerian-born British boxer Anthony Joshua possesses the skills needed to defeat his British rival Tyson Fury. The ongoing negotiations between Fury and Joshua's management for a British heavyweight bout have faced challenges.

Fury, the current WBC heavyweight champion, previously suggested that Joshua might be hesitant to face him again. Holyfield, recognized as the third-best boxer of all time, recently expressed his opinion that Joshua, not the current world champion Oleksandr Usyk, is the one with the potential to defeat Fury. Holyfield emphasized the similarity in height between Joshua and Fury, stating that it comes down to who is the strongest.

"Until it happens, it will just be a guessing game," Holyfield added.

In 2010, the closest Joshua and Fury came to fighting each other was during a sparring session at Joshua's Finchley training facility, where AJ surprised Fury with an uppercut.

Another boxing legend, George Foreman, expressed his desire to witness a bout between Joshua and Fury before retiring from boxing. Foreman asserted that only Joshua has the capability to give Fury a tough challenge in the ring. He praised Fury's skills, stating that the current WBC champion would have excelled in any era of boxing.

“The one fight I want to see before I close my eyes out of boxing is Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua. Anthony Joshua is the only guy who can give Tyson Fury a terrible fight – a good fight. Right now, Tyson Fury is the best thing going in boxing. But, I love that. Those two guys keep me excited about boxing. That Tyson Fury would have done well in any era. It doesn’t matter who, what, when, or where, he would have done well,” Foreman expressed.
