Tinubu assures Nigerians that poverty should not be a concern for Nigeria

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reassured Nigerians that during his leadership, the nation will conquer its challenges of poverty, insecurity, and underdevelopment.

Tinubu emphasized that Nigeria should not be grappling with poverty, considering its vast human capacity and natural resources.

The President made this commitment on Thursday while receiving a delegation from Rivers State at the State House in Abuja.

"We are not supposed to endure poverty. We will change the course of events! There is a peaceful and quiet place for us somewhere in this storm. We will find it! We are not indolent; we are abundantly endowed. All we need is to care for one another and be good neighbors.

Tinubu further declared that he would not be a president who makes excuses but instead, he would diligently work to create wealth for all Nigerians with purpose, determination, and dedication.

He drew a parallel between Nigeria's current situation and the struggle against the current of poverty but expressed optimism that the tides of progress would propel the country forward.

Tinubu went on to affirm that Nigeria will realize the visions and aspirations of its founding fathers, emphasizing his inspiration from the diverse nation he now leads.

The delegation, consisting of 62 members and led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, comprised leaders from both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State. Prominent figures such as FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and former president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Onueze Okocha, were also part of the delegation.

The president also acknowledged the concerns raised by prominent individuals from Rivers State regarding the need for infrastructure development in the state. He assured them that he would take immediate steps to address these issues.

He commended Minister Wike for his effective leadership in his previous role as FCT Minister and also as his adviser. President Tinubu noted Wike's achievements and the significant responsibilities he had carried, leaving behind a strong legacy for the new governor to uphold.

President Tinubu emphasized that Rivers State, being one of his closest allies, would continue to enjoy direct access to him as they work together towards achieving sustainable development.

Governor Fubara expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the president for the substantial positive changes brought about by his administration in Rivers State.

He highlighted that this was the first time, since the advent of democracy in 1999, that the state had experienced tangible federal government interventions and acknowledged President Tinubu's appointment of highly capable individuals from Rivers State to key positions within his administration.

The governor applauded the president for successfully securing $14 billion in investment approvals during the G-20 Summit, including significant projects like the expansion of Indorama Petrochemicals in Eleme, Rivers State.

Governor Fubara also mentioned that the state had recently allocated 209 hectares of land to support this new investment initiative.
