PDP Governors Convene Emergency Meeting Today, Fubara in Focus

Governors elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) banner have convened an emergency meeting to address the impeachment threat against Governor Similanayi Fubara of Rivers State. The meeting, scheduled for today (Tuesday), will be held at the Akwa Ibom State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, with Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, presiding.

The primary objective of the meeting is to mediate and foster peace between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike. The PDP governors are reportedly concerned about the ongoing crisis in Rivers State and are determined to find a lasting solution.

A source close to one of the governors revealed that the unexpected events in Rivers State have raised the collective concern of the PDP governors, prompting them to convene for discussions and resolution. The source emphasized the need to address the crisis and find a peaceful way forward.

The recent attempt to impeach Governor Fubara was accompanied by an arson attack on the state's legislative chamber. The unfolding events, including the removal and suspension of the majority leader of the House, Edison Ehie, have further intensified the political turmoil in the state. The PDP governors aim to navigate a path towards stability and unity within the party.
