CONTROVERSIAL Metropolitan Police office Khafi Kareem returned to the UK to face the possibility of disciplinary action after she appeared on Big Brother Nigeria where she had sexual intercourse with another housemate during the series.
PC Kareem, 29, who was a poster girl for the Metropolitan Police, defied bosses to appear on the TV show, where she struck up a raunchy romance with a fellow contestant. In August, Nigerian-born policewoman Kareem, who works in Lambeth, appeared on the Big Brother show while she was on unpaid leave in Nigeria and featured in the television series without permission.
She had asked the Metropolitan Police if she could take part in the show and was told she could not but still went ahead and appeared and to make matters worse began an affair with fellow contestant Ekpata Gedoni. After the images of her went viral, the Metropolitan Police launched an investigation into the officer, for allegedly breaching professional standards.
She was evicted from the show on September 15 but remained in Nigeria until last Friday when she arrived back at London Heathrow Airport. Ms Kareem has since appeared at a meet-and-greet with fans at a Nigerian restaurant in Lewisham, South East London, which she publicised on her Instagram account.
In addition, the churchgoing officer has also posted a series of photographs and videos talking about her excitement about her her forthcoming 30th birthday party coming up on November 3. Ms Kareem has also hosted a live question and answer session on Instagram after he return to the UK
She is now expected to learn whether she faces a misconduct hearing following talks with Scotland Yard top brass over the coming weeks. Ms Kareem, who was previously a shop assistant and part-time actress before enlisting with the Met as a special constable while studying at university, has denied claims she slept with housemate Ekpata Gedoni on the show
In 2015, Ms Kareem joined the force fulltime in 2015, motivated by the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old school friend. Last year, she was pictured standing next to Metropolitan Police commissioner Cressida Dick and other female officers during a celebration of 100 years of women in the force.
She also represented the Met at the red carpet premier of the film Captain Marvel alongside deputy assistant commissioner Lucy D’Orsi. Miss Kareem, who speaks English, French, Italian, her native Yoruba and sign language, has worked spotting possible female genital mutilation victims at airports and has also given lectures about what it is like to work as a black officer and has spoken of her ambition to become a detective.
Denying she had sex while on the show, the officer, whose mother is Christian and whose father is Muslim, told contestants she had been celibate for eight years after converting to Christianity. On her YouTube channel she also posted a video discussing the benefits of saving sex for marriage.
