Soldiers kill terrorists, arrest 94 suspects
The Armed Forces of Nigeria has stepped up its security operations across the country, achieving significant gains in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities. In a briefing on Friday in Abuja, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major‑General Olatokunbo Bello, disclosed that within a two‑week period (November 3 – 14) troops neutralised scores of terrorists, rescued 67 kidnapped victims, and arrested 94 criminal suspects.During the same period, the military recovered large caches of arms and ammunition, including automatic rifles, machine guns, RPG tubes, locally‑fabricated weapons, and IED‑making materials. Several criminal camps and logistics bases were also destroyed.
In the North‑East, troops of Operation Hadin Kai carried out sustained offensive actions in Borno and Adamawa States, killing several Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters. According to Bello, “troops also apprehended 45 terrorists’ informants, collaborators and logistics suppliers, and rescued one kidnapped victim.”
Under Operation Fagge Yamma in the North‑West, troops eliminated multiple terrorists across Sokoto, Zamfara, Niger, Katsina, Kebbi, and Kano States. Two suspects were arrested, 13 kidnapped victims rescued, and weapons, vehicles, and livestock were recovered.
In the North‑Central region, troops of Operation Enduring Peace responded to attacks in Plateau and Kaduna States, killing extremists, arresting 16 suspects, and rescuing five victims. Notable arrests included the notorious criminal Ibrahim Wakili in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna on November 9.
Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke recorded successes in Kogi, Kwara, Benue, Nasarawa, and Taraba States, killing several criminals, arresting 10 suspects, and rescuing 48 kidnapped victims. Additionally, two gunrunners and two extremist collaborators were arrested in Nasarawa State.
Under Operation Delta Safe, the military foiled oil theft worth over ₦15.8 million in the Niger Delta. Several illegal refining sites were discovered and destroyed, and nine suspected oil thieves were arrested in Bayelsa and Delta States.
In the South‑East, troops of Operation Udo Ka maintained pressure on criminal elements, killing one terrorist and arresting seven others in Imo, Enugu, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River States.
The two‑week campaign underscores the military’s intensified efforts to neutralise security threats, protect civilians, and safeguard national assets across Nigeria’s troubled regions.
