Jigawa gov presents N901.8bn budget, prioritises agriculture, security
Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has formally submitted the budget proposal for 2026 to the state legislature.
This important event occurred on Tuesday at the House of Assembly complex in Dutse, the capital of the state.
The presentation ceremony was a significant event that drew a diverse group of distinguished attendees. Among those present were high-ranking government officials, influential politicians, esteemed traditional leaders, many loyal APC supporters from across the state, various community organizations, and NGO representatives supporting state initiatives.
Governor Namadi, while presenting the comprehensive budget to the Assembly, physically delivered the substantial document. During his speech, he remarked, “This N901.8 billion plan represents more than mere figures; it serves as our guide to transforming Jigawa through infrastructure, education, and employment, ensuring that no one is excluded in our journey towards prosperity.”
He also underscored the administration's priorities, stating, “We have emphasized agriculture and security to build upon our achievements, calling on all stakeholders to help us turn this budget into a reality for our citizens.”
The Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Haruna Dangyatim, accepted the 2026 fiscal year documents amid applause from those present. In his response, he expressed appreciation for the proposal, commenting, “On behalf of this assembly, we welcome this forward-looking proposal; it is comprehensive and citizens-centered, and we will examine it thoroughly to ensure swift passage for a brighter future in Jigawa.”
Speaker Dangyatim further praised the Governor’s emphasis, stating, “Your administration's dedication is evident; together, we will transform these plans into tangible benefits for all citizens.”
