ICYMI: ICPC arrests former NIMASA DG Bashir Jamoh into custody

According to reports, Bashir Jamoh, the former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, was detained in Kaduna State by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.

A family spokesman claims that ICPC agents stopped Jamoh on his way home from a court appearance.

Before being moved from Kaduna to Abuja, he was allegedly searched at his home.

According to the family, Jamoh has been detained incommunicado since his detention and has not had access to his family or legal representation.

They have characterised the incarceration as a violation of his fundamental rights and voiced fears for his safety.

The particular charges against him and an official statement about the arrest have not yet been made public by the ICPC.
