Federal, states, LGAs governments shared N1.928tn in November
In November 2025, the total amount received by the Federal, state, and local governments from the Federation Account was N1.928 trillion, showing a notable decrease from the N2.094 trillion allocated in October.
Bawa Mokwa, the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Accountant-General’s Office, indicated in a press release issued on Monday that this allocation was authorized during the December 2025 meeting of the Federation Account Allocation Committee held in Abuja.
The announcement mentioned, “The total amount of N1.928 trillion, representing the Federation Account Revenue for November 2025, has been distributed among the Federal Government, States, and Local Government Councils.”
Analysis reveals that the revenue allocation for November fell by N166 billion from October’s N2.094 trillion, reflecting a month-on-month decline of 7.93 percent.
The decrease in November allocations was much sharper compared to the slight drop of N9 billion (0.43 percent) observed between September and October when disbursements went from N2.103 trillion to N2.094 trillion.
The FAAC communiqué referenced in the statement indicated that the N1.928 trillion allocated in November included N1.403 trillion in statutory revenue, N485.838 billion from Value Added Tax, and N39.646 billion from the Electronic Money Transfer Levy.
The statement pointed out that total gross revenue for November 2025 was N2.343 trillion, from which N84.251 billion was deducted for collection costs, while N330.625 billion was set aside for transfers, interventions, refunds, and savings.
The communiqué emphasized a significant reduction in revenue inflows for November, particularly from both oil and non-oil tax sources. “A gross statutory revenue of N1.736 trillion was received in November 2025, a drop of N427.969 billion from the N2.164 trillion collected in October 2025,” it reported.
Likewise, Value Added Tax collections also experienced a considerable decline, with “gross VAT revenue of N563.042 billion reported in November 2025, compared to N719.827 billion in October, marking a decrease of N156.785 billion.”
From the N1.928 trillion allocated in November, the Federal Government obtained N747.159 billion, states received N601.731 billion, local government councils were allotted N445.266 billion, and oil-producing states distributed N134.355 billion as 13 percent derivation revenue.
Examining the statutory revenue more closely, out of the N1.403 trillion available for distribution, the Federal Government acquired N668.336 billion, states received N338.989 billion, and local governments got N261.346 billion, in addition to the N134.355 billion allocated for derivation.
From the N485.838 billion in the VAT pool, the Federal Government received N72.876 billion, states got N242.919 billion, and local governments acquired N170.043 billion.
The communiqué also mentioned that the revenue from the Electronic Money Transfer Levy was divided among the three levels of government, with the Federal Government receiving N5.947 billion, states getting N19.823 billion, and local governments obtaining N13.876 billion from the total of N39.646 billion.
FAAC noted that the weaker allocation in November was due to widespread declines across essential revenue streams.
