FUGUS officially verifies the successful rescue of 13 abducted students and three additional individ

The Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) in Zamfara has officially announced the successful rescue of 13 students and three others who were abducted by gunmen on September 12th.

The university conveyed this confirmation through its official Twitter account, @officialFUGUS. Their tweet read, "In a remarkable turn of events, 16 individuals, comprising 13 students and three laborers, have been liberated, all thanks to the swift and courageous efforts of the military.

"We also express our heartfelt gratitude to the Almighty for granting them the strength and resilience to endure this ordeal. The rescue operation, carried out by dedicated members of the military, underscores their unwavering commitment to the safety and security of our citizens."

This development increases the total number of rescued students and workers to 22.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadarin-Daji, had previously rescued six female students from the university who were part of the group of students abducted on September 22nd.

These female students had been taken from their rented hostels, situated approximately 200 meters from the university campus. Additionally, the gunmen had kidnapped nine construction workers from GUPRAN Engineering Services Ltd, who were working on a project within the university.
