FAAN to restructure workforce in ‘Right-Placement’ initiative
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has revealed a restructuring plan that could impact some of its workforce.
This initiative, referred to as a “right-placement” exercise, was made public in a statement on Sunday.
It is believed that this action is a response to ongoing internal complaints among employees, which have arisen from perceived unfair placement practices by a former administration.
In its announcement, FAAN reassured its employees of its dedication to resolving these matters with professionalism, transparency, and rigorous compliance with statutory standards in all human resource and administrative processes.
The statement, signed by Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection Henry Agbebire, highlighted that the authority's HR practices regarding recruitment, placement, and advancement are governed by regulations that ensure fairness, competence, and efficiency.
Agbebire further mentioned that Managing Director Olubunmi Kuku has required an internal review to improve clarity and guarantee consistent application of policies throughout the authority.
As stated, the restructuring is anticipated to impact a considerable number of personnel from vital units, particularly those in the Fire Service and Aviation Security.
Agbebire clarified, “This review seeks to enhance clarity, guarantee uniform policy implementation, and strengthen trust in the systems governing employee advancement. It will also provide management the opportunity to address any deficiencies and enhance existing frameworks where needed.
“FAAN reaffirms that no employee is required to modify or conceal their qualifications during our recruitment process. All engagement protocols are based on the positions advertised, their criteria at that time, and the voluntary applications of candidates.
“Should there be any necessary adjustments or evaluations of policies, FAAN ensures that such issues are managed responsibly and in line with public service standards.”
