Emefiele is held in custody by the EFCC following his release by the DSS
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken into custody the ex-governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele. This occurred on Thursday night, shortly after his release from the Department of State Services (DSS) detention.
It has been discovered that the ex-CBN governor is presently undergoing questioning at the EFCC headquarters located in Jabi, Abuja.
The EFCC is investigating Godwin Emefiele for alleged misconduct during his tenure as the head of the central bank.
It's worth noting that Emefiele was arrested by the DSS in June, coinciding with President Bola Tinubu's immediate suspension of his office.
The Presidency explained that Emefiele's suspension at the time was a result of the "ongoing investigation of his office and the intended reforms in the financial sector of the economy."
