El-Rufai denies defection to PDP

Nasir El-Rufai, a former Kaduna State Governor, has denied reports that he has left the All Progressives Congress to join the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

El-Rufai responded to the speculation on his verified X account, formerly Twitter, urging Nigerians to disregard the false reports, describing them as "patent lies."

He also stated that he has instructed his lawyers to take legal action against those spreading misinformation.

"Please disregard the patently false claims and rumours about my political affiliation. "I have referred the lead peddlers of fake news for further action by my lawyers," El-Rufai wrote on Sunday.

A close associate of the former governor also described the claims as the work of mischief-makers.

According to the aide, El-Rufai, a prominent figure in the APC, could not have defected to the PDP without making the decision public.
