Age brought me wisdom and Honor says Biden
US President Joe Biden, who is running for re-election in 2024 at the age of 80, said in an interview aired Friday that his advanced age has provided him with a wealth of insight.
"I have acquired a hell of a lot of wisdom and know more than the vast majority of people," he told an MSNBC reporter in his first press interview since officially beginning his candidature last week.
"I have more experience than anyone who has ever run for office." And I believe I've proven to be both honourable and effective," added Biden, a Democrat who would be 86 by the end of a second term.
With the exception of the occasional joke, Biden has rarely addressed his age, which is widely regarded as his major disadvantage among voters.
He may face Republican Donald Trump, now 76, in 2024.
