88% of Nigerians use AI for learning, entrepreneurship – Google

According to Google, Nigerians are not only embracing AI but are also becoming world leaders in its use.

Nigerians are using AI for a variety of purposes, including entrepreneurship and education, according to the company's Tuesday report, "Our Life with AI: Helpfulness in the Hands of More People," which shows a great deal of excitement about the technology's potential.

According to the poll, 88% of Nigerian adults have used an AI chatbot, which is much higher than the global average of 62% and represents an 18-point increase from 2024.

According to Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, Google's Communications and Public Affairs Manager for West Africa, the findings show how Nigerians are creatively utilising AI to open up new possibilities.

According to Kola-Ogunlade, "it's inspiring to see how Nigerians are creatively and purposefully using AI to unlock new opportunities for learning, growth, and economic empowerment."

"This research offers the tale of a country that is actively defining its future with technology, utilising AI as a tool to accelerate growth and achieve its goals, rather than merely demonstrating high adoption rates. We're dedicated to making sure AI continues to be a useful and available tool for everyone.

According to the report, Nigerians are increasingly using AI for both professional and personal development, even though learning is still the leading use of the technology worldwide.

According to Google, 74% of people worldwide utilise AI tools to learn or comprehend complicated topics, compared to 93% of Nigerians.

Additionally, the study found that 80% of respondents use AI to investigate new business prospects or career changes, which is nearly twice the global average of 42%. Additionally, 91% of respondents rely on AI to assist their work.

The study also revealed that, compared to about 65% of respondents worldwide, about 91% of respondents think AI is improving how people learn and access information.

According to the research, "95% believe university students and educators are likely to benefit from AI."
"Nigerians are considerably more optimistic about the potential of AI than the rest of the world."

According to the survey, 80% of Nigerians are more enthusiastic than worried about the potential of AI, while the global divide is almost equal at 53% enthusiastic and 46% worried.
