‘I was dismissed without hearing,’ Paystack co-founder decries termination
Paystack has let go of its co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Ezra Olubi, just days after placing him on suspension due to resurfaced accusations of sexual misconduct.
The dismissal, announced by Olubi himself on Saturday, November 22, 2025, represents a quick and firm action from the company's leadership in light of increasing scrutiny on social media.
This decision comes after Paystack’s Board of Directors suspended Olubi last week and initiated an internal investigation into allegations that had emerged again online.
The allegations, which quickly went viral across social media, originate from a collection of old tweets and personal claims made by a former colleague.
Olubi reported that the termination was conveyed to him before the investigation reached a conclusion.
“On Saturday, November 22, 2025, I learned that my employment had been terminated. This action was taken before the so-called investigation was completed, and without any meeting, hearing, or chance for me to address the concerns raised, in direct violation of the suspension terms and Paystack’s own internal policies,” he expressed.
Olubi asserted that he was never afforded a chance to respond to the claims, characterizing the process as a breach of Paystack’s established policies.
He maintained that the mentioned posts do not fairly represent his behavior and emphasized that he had fully cooperated with the Board throughout the process.
Olubi also mentioned that his legal team is currently reviewing the termination process to determine if it adhered to the company's internal guidelines.
“My legal team is now assessing the procedure that led to my alleged termination, including its alignment with internal policies. They will decide the appropriate steps to take, and I will refrain from further comments on this issue for now,” he stated.
Paystack has not yet issued any additional statement regarding the termination.
The fintech firm, which is well-known for its strategic collaboration with Stripe and its prominent role in Africa’s $1 billion digital payments landscape, is currently facing significant public criticism over its handling of the allegations and Olubi’s exit.
