Newcastle said to be the latest club looking to snap up Iheanacho during the January transfer window

NEWCASTLE United have become the latest English Premier League side to show in interest ion Leicester City’s struggling Kelechi Iheanacho with an indication that he may be signed on loan during the January transfer window.

So far this season, Iheanacho has only played19 minutes of football and Leicester are planning a clear out in the winter window, so will allow Iheanacho, who they bought for £25m, to go out on loan until the end of the season. Since leaving Manchester City, the 23-year-old has struggled at the King Power Stadium as his form has dipped.

On the other hand, Newcastle have found goals had to come by this season and Iheanacho could be a remedy to this problem if the club is to avoid relegation. Newcastle have managed just five goals collectively in nine Premier League matches this season and coach Steve Bruce is under pressure to remedy the situation quickly.

Leicester City are willing to let Iheanacho leave in the January transfer window as the club is planning a winter clearout that will involve the striker leave the club on loan until the end of the season. Since leaving Manchester City, where Iheanacho scored 21 goals in 64 league and cup outings, he has struggled at Leicester.

During the current campaign, Iheanacho has only managed to appear on the bench three times in the league and is way down the pegging order as  Leicester have other options up front, including Jamie Vardy, Ayoze Perez and Harvey Barnes.

Since Perez and indeed Salomon Rondon left Newcastle last season, the team has struggled to hit the back of the net and new signing Joelinton has failed to hit it off since his £40m move from Hoffenheim in Germany. He has only scored one goal this season and the club’s other strikers like Miguel Almiron and Andy Carroll are not doing any better.
