Mega filling station owners offer to deliver fuel to 774 LGs at cheaper rate

The Nigerian Association of Mega Filling Station Owners has called for a stronger partnership between the organisation and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited's management.

The Association stated that it could transport fuel to the country's 774 local government headquarters at a lower cost, making the product more accessible to people at the grassroots level.

The President of AMFSON, Davidson Ukatta, made this statement available to journalists in Kaduna on Monday after meeting with members of the association in Abuja.

He stated that filling stations owned by his members could be found in all 774 local councils across the country, making it easier for the public to obtain petroleum products at a lower cost.

According to the statement, NNPC management and other critical stakeholders in the petroleum industry's downstream sector must view AMFSON not only as a business partners but also as partners in progress in the quest to provide products to Nigerians at lower and more affordable prices.

The statement said, "AMFSON is well structured to help make petroleum products available to Nigerians; our members are spread across 774 local councils in the 36 states of the Federation and the federal capital territory.

"While NNPC Retail filling stations are politically located in the capitals of the 36 states of the Federation and Abuja, AMFSON outlets can be found in a large number across the country's 774 local councils."

"The locations of AMFSON member outlets provide Nigerians with easy access to petroleum products at lower prices across the country.

"Therefore, all critical stakeholders must unite behind the association's efforts to make petroleum products available across the country.

"There is also the need for NNPC Limited to deepen its relationship with AMFSON members as part of strategies to make cheaper petroleum products available to the public."

According to the statement, AMFSON is the only group capable of assisting NNPCL in driving the policy that led to the establishment of NNPC Retail Limited.

The statement continued, "Our members are well equipped to drive the policy behind the establishment of NNPC Limited, which is aimed at making petroleum products available to Nigerians at a reasonable price.

"Our filling stations are located in all 774 local councils across the country, making it easy for the public to obtain petroleum products at a lower cost.

"We are pleased that the association's national secretariat has opened because it will help to create a more enabling environment for its members.

"Until now, AMFSON's national secretariat was located in Gwagwalada, a remote suburb of Abuja. The relocation of the national secretariat to Abuja's city centre represents a new chapter in the association's history.
