Adeleke replaces aide accused of diverting Sallah rice

Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, has appointed Mr Ebenezer Ige as his Senior Special Assistant on Civil Society Engagement.

According to a statement released in Osogbo on Saturday by the governor's spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Ige's appointment is consistent with Adeleke's commitment to robust and effective engagement with all stakeholders across the state.

"The appointment of Mr. Ige Oluwasegun Ebenezer is consistent with Governor Adeleke's commitment to fostering strong partnerships with civil society organisations and ensuring effective engagement with all stakeholders across the state.

"Governor Adeleke has also directed that Mr Adebisi Emmanuel, the former SSA on Civil Society, be suspended indefinitely. This directive is pending the outcome of the investigation into the allegations levelled against him.

"The Governor has reiterated his zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct and corruption, emphasising that any individual found culpable will be dealt with according to the law," a portion of the statement read.

PUNCH Online had previously reported that Adeleke suspended Adebisi on July 3 for undisclosed reasons and ordered an investigation into the allegations against him.

Meanwhile, in a Facebook post earlier on the day of his suspension, Adebisi denied diverting 70 bags of rice intended for distribution to members of the state's civil society groups during the previous Sallah festival.

Adebisi wrote: "It has come to my attention that recent media reports about me, Comrade Adebisi Emmanuel, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Civil Societies, are misleading and false.

"The claims that I, Emmanuel Adebisi, have been suspended and removed from a WhatsApp group are completely false.

"I continue to serve diligently as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Osun State, with a firm commitment to my duties.

"Any allegations of my involvement in misconduct, particularly the alleged diversion of 70 bags of rice intended for Osun civil societies during the Eid-el-Kabir festival, are completely false and without merit. It is the work of bitter political opponents, and I challenge anyone with facts on this subject to present them."
