Huesca look to sign Omeruo and team him up with Super Eagles compatriot Kelechi Nwakali

FORMER Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo could likely join compatriot Kelechi Nwakali at newly-promoted Spanish La Liga side Huesca before the close of the summer transfer window after they made enquiries for his services.

Omeruo, 26, is currently on the books of Leganes, who were relegated from La Liga at the end of last season and is being courted by several major clubs. Huesca, who feature Nigerian midfielder Kelechi Nwakali, is looking to strengthen its squad ahead of the new campaign and Omeruo is a player they are looking at.

With 52 Nigerian caps to his name, Omeruo has been a feature of the Super Eagles since 2013, winning a Nations Cup and has featured in two World Cups. Huesca have a low transfer budget and are targeting the key players in the demoted teams Leganés, Espanyol and Mallorca to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming season.

Leganes bought Omeruo from Chelsea on 13 August 2019 for €5m after he has spend a season-long loan with the club. He is contracted to Leganes until June 2024 and has 51 La Liga appearances under his belt.
