GOVERNOR Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has dismissed critics who have objected to him appointing his daughter as one of his political aides saying she is qualified to take up the position and he owes no one an apology for it.
In a controversial move, Governor Okowa appointed his daughter Marilyn Daramola as his senior special assistant on girl child matters but the development has attracted widespread criticism. However, dismissing the critics, the governor said Marilyn is fully qualified for the appointment and he remains unapologetic about it.
Governor Okowa said: ” “It is not true that I have appointed two of my daughters, I have only appointed one and she is rightfully qualified. I do not have any daughter in social media and I do not have any apologies for appointing her because I know the quality of daughter that I have.”
He also added that the choice of who becomes the next governor of the state in 2023 would be determined by God. According to Governor Okowa, the important thing is to ensure there is unity and equity and he will continue to work towards achieving a situation that keeps everyone united as Deltans, realising that working together makes them stronger as a people.
