Transcorp leads environmental initiatives and advocates for sustainability

Transnational Corporation Plc (Transcorp), a publicly listed diversified conglomerate involved in the Power, Hospitality, and Energy sectors, has initiated an environmental Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project.

The group has recently introduced an initiative with the objective of educating schools nationwide about responsible waste management and recycling, promoting a more environmentally friendly and sustainable future for Nigeria.

Employees from various Transcorp companies in Nigeria, including Transcorp Plc, Transcorp Hotels Plc, Transcorp Power Limited, Transafam Power Limited, and Transcorp Energy Limited, actively participated in this project.

According to the group, the project is in line with Transcorp's Africapitalism philosophy, which is deeply ingrained in its vision to drive positive change in the environments where the group operates. In implementing this environmental initiative, the Group has chosen to collaborate with secondary schools, aiming to instill a sense of environmental responsibility in the younger generation, motivating them to become advocates of sustainable practices.

During the event, Dr. Owen Omogiafo, the President/GCEO of the Transcorp Group, expressed tremendous pride in the Group's dedication to environmental stewardship.

"We are steadfast in our belief that sustainable development is a collective obligation. Our active involvement with local schools and our investments in educational initiatives enable us to make a lasting and positive contribution to our environment, while also motivating the younger generation to embrace eco-friendly practices," she emphasized. - By Peter Egwuatu
