10 products Nigeria needs to step up the production of if she wants to beat this coronavirus pandemic

By Ayo Akinfe

(1) Hand sanitisers
(2) Facemasks
(3) Ventilators
(4) Protection suits
(5) Diagnostic equipment
(6) Oxygen cylinders
(7) Medical drips
(8) Fumigation kits
(9) Respirators
(10) Disinfectants like Dettol

We simply cannot rely on the outside world to provide us with all this at a time when everyone else is struggling to meet local demand. Jack Ma’s donation should be considered a one-off and I doubt we will be seeing anything similar soon.

Consider this a war situation. Everyone else has to equip their own army so simply cannot spare hardware even for their allies.

I hope the Nigerian government introduces urgent measures to support the local production of this equipment. Whatever support manufacturers need should be rendered.
