Public Health England (PHE) revealed that a third person has been diagnosed with Monkeypox in the UK.
Deputy director of the national infection service at PHE, Dr Nick Phin, said the case was “not wholly unexpected”.
The individual is a healthcare worker who treated a patient at Blackpool Victoria Hospital with the infection before it was diagnosed in September.
Monkeypox is a rare viral infection that does not spread easily between people. It is usually a mild self-limiting illness and most people recover within a few weeks. However, severe illness can occur in some individuals.
