After months of anticipation and excitement, the Tolly Boy charitable campaign – Spread the Joy with Tolly Boy, has come to an enthralling end, bringing with it a wonderful new chapter.
Tolly Boy is proud to announce Wapping Bangladesh Association as being their campaign champions, winning £10,000 of funding, after gaining 6527 votes. This funding will work towards supplementing evening classes, where respectable local youth workers, professional social workers, and local celebrities will lecture on a weekly basis regarding the effects and consequences of gang culture.
Finally, the community group that came in third place is the Bangladeshi Women’s Association, who will receive a prize donation of £2,500 from Tolly Boy. This funding will assist in providing employment and training surgeries for BAME women from disadvantaged communities. Also hoping to provide practical office skills training to nurture women into future employment.
The Spread the Joy with Tolly Boy campaign, saw communities and charity groups work together across the UK, gathering an overwhelming response of 20301 votes, with projects ranging from healthcare, education, women’s empowerment, childcare, victim support, elderly care and social welfare.
Throughout the campaign, Tolly Boy rice has been working closely with each of the community groups to promote their initiatives and causes to the wider community, making a difference at the grassroot level. As a token of support and appreciation to the continuous efforts of these groups, Tolly Boy rice will be donating £500 to the remaining community groups.
Steven Perry, Senior Brand Manager from Tolly Boy, shared some of his thoughts saying: “Tolly Boy has been a part of the community since 1962, and through this initiative, we endeavoured to bring the community together by supporting and promoting causes that will make a real difference to them. Through this campaign, we have partnered the community from their dining tables to their neighbourhoods and are happy to see our efforts in making a difference to communities – where it matters the most.”
Echoing their views, Wapping Bangladesh Association said: “Our group was born out of the necessity to foster and strengthen the bond between locals and Bangladeshis, and it is great to see a brand like Tolly Boy which has been an integral part of our community meals, to come out and support our cause. The funding will help us in empowering the people of our community, but the campaign has helped us get the word out to the wider community beyond London.”
While the campaign has come to an end, Tolly Boy has ensured the community comes together in a holistic manner to the spread the joy where it matters the most. Tolly Boy congratulates Wapping Bangladesh Association, NICOWF and Bangladeshi Women’s Association on their win, and supports and wishes luck to all the community groups with their endeavours of helping Bangladeshi and African communities.
