Dennis watched as an eagle soared high in the sky above Watford

Emmanuel Dennis, the Super Eagles forward, may have drawn inspiration from the words of the renowned singer Madonna, who once famously said, "No matter who you are, no matter what you did, no matter where you've come from, you can always change and become a better version of yourself."

After a challenging loan stint at Istanbul Basaksehir, which proved unfruitful, Dennis opted for a change of scenery, joining Watford. Since his return to England, he has experienced a revitalization in his career.

Currently on loan at Watford from Nottingham Forest, Dennis has reignited his goal-scoring prowess after a challenging start to the season.

Initially, the Nigerian forward embarked on a loan move to Istanbul Basaksehir in September 2023. However, Nottingham Forest terminated the loan in January following Dennis's limited impact, managing only eight appearances without any goal contributions.

Since his return to Watford, the Nigerian forward has scored four times in six starts, rekindling his joy for the game with the EFL Championship side.

Although initially relegated to a bench role upon his return to Vicarage Road, Dennis demonstrated his scoring ability by netting his first goal in Watford's 2-1 home defeat against Leicester City. In his debut start for the club, he continued his scoring form, finding the back of the net again in a 2-1 loss to Huddersfield, much to the disappointment of the home crowd.

With his noteworthy performances, Dennis is gradually becoming a vital component of the team. He has started in each of their last six games, scoring four goals in the process, despite completing the full 90 minutes on only two occasions.

During his initial stint with Watford, the 26-year-old matched Troy Deeney's record by becoming the first player since 2017 to score in three consecutive Premier League matches for the club.

A historic moment nearly unfolded earlier this month against Swansea, where he could have become only the second Watford player to score in three consecutive home games after Mileta Rajovic. However, his opportunity was thwarted by an impressive performance from Swansea's goalkeeper, Carl Rushworth.

Dennis' recent stellar performances have garnered praise, notably from the club's interim manager, Tom Cleverly. Cleverly commended Dennis for his explosive speed and ability to surprise defenders, highlighting his crucial winning goal in the recent match.

"We recognize Dennis' explosive abilities. He has a knack for catching defenders off guard, which proved vital in securing the win," Cleverly remarked. "Despite managing a minor groin issue, he showcased resilience by scoring the winning goal before being substituted."

As Watford prepares to face Preston in their upcoming EFL Championship fixture at home on Saturday, Dennis aims to maintain his exceptional form and contribute to his team's success.
