SIERRA Leone’s federal government has appointed Nigerian doctor Dr Laoluwa Adejayan as the head of the country’s Covid-19 task force having adjudged him to be the most qualified person for the job.
Dr Adejayan, a graduate of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho, had served in Bayelsa State before transferring his services to Sierra Leone under the Technical Aids Corps scheme in 2012. He has worked in the country ever since, making President Julius Maada Bio consider him the best person to handle the pandemic.
In a letter addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari President Bio described Dr Adejayan as a good ambassador of Nigeria in the country. According to President Bio, Dr Adejayan had, over the years, proved to be a well-trained, brilliant and hard working doctor.
Dr Adejayan was judged by the Sierra Leonean authorities to be the best foreign medical practitioner in the country in recent years. Following his appointment, the Serial Leonean government increased his salary to $20,000 per month, representing a 100% on what he earned before his recent elevation.
