The Senate has reacted to the charges filed against Senator Hamman Isah Misau, bordering on alleged forgery. The Senator represents Bauchi Central in the National Assembly.
Sam Ayanwu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, told reporters that irrespective of the charges against Senator Misau, it will continue with the investigation of the allegations leveled against the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, by Misau.
Yesterday, when Sam was asked by reporters if his committee would go ahead with the investigation, as the AGF had filed a suit against Misau on behalf of the IGP, he said that the committee or the Senate is not a party to the suit.
On October 4, the Senate had resolved to probe into Misau’s allegations bordering on corruption and misconduct against Idris.
Bukola Saraki, Senate President, instructed the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Misau’s disconnection from the Nigeria Police. It could be recalled that Idris had alleged that Misau was a deserter.
The two reports will be presented to the Senate after two weeks.
