Labour Party Reacts to Tribunal's Presidential Election Petition Judgment Date

The Labour Party (LP) is eagerly awaiting the final judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) regarding its challenge to President Bola Tinubu's victory.

The PEPT confirmed on Monday that it has scheduled September 6 as the date for delivering the verdict on petitions contesting President Bola Tinubu's 2023 presidential election victory. Umar Bangari, the Court of Appeal Registrar, announced this date and emphasized that the court proceedings would be available for live broadcast on television stations.

Bangari assured that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth delivery of judgment for the three petitions. Security measures have been put in place, and only invited members of political parties and the general public will be allowed into the courtroom to prevent overcrowding and security issues.

LP's National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, expressed optimism about a favorable judgment when speaking with Daily Trust. He believes that the wishes of Nigerians will prevail, and the party's prayers to the tribunal will be answered positively.

The LP, along with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), along with their presidential candidates, had filed petitions seeking to invalidate President Tinubu's election as the winner of the 2023 presidential election, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Following the submission of final written addresses by the involved parties, the five-member tribunal, led by Justice Haruna Simon Tsamani, reserved judgment and promised to communicate the verdict's delivery date to concerned parties and their lawyers.
