A Nigerian born 26 year-old, Samuel Adepoju, has become a star in India as he perfectly sing a folk song called Lollipop Lagelu in Hindi.
The song was originally sung by Pawan Singh and has found an admirer of the song in a Nigerian resident, whose stage name is Samuel Singh.
Mr. Adepoju posted the video on Facebook and within a few days it led into 350,000 views and over 12,000 shares.
Mr. Adepoju also showed his performance on other Hindi songs, one of them a dancehall version of a song named Brown Rang by Honey Singh.
A newspaper in India (HindustanTimes) asked Adepoju where he first heard the song.
“A friend from Chile had recommended the song to me and said I could wow a crowd if I sang Lollipop Lagelu.”
“I first heard the song during my college days in Jaipur when I participated in a cultural event. “He taught me the chorus and within a few minutes, I’d gotten the hang of it. That performance had gotten me the loudest cheers I’ve ever received.” he answered.
His loved and passion for Hindu music started after he arrived in India for cancer treatment.
“The country (India) is filled with good music from good people. Listening to Indian songs during my treatment, I would find myself at peace — feeling happy and sad at the same time,” he further added.
“And even though the treatment took away my left hand, I got through the tough period thanks to every friend I made in India during my medical and educational stay.”
