LASTMA terminates the employment of five officials due to involvement in corrupt practices
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has officially terminated the employment of five officers and issued reprimands to two others for their involvement in corruption and misconduct during their duty in the state. This decision was confirmed by Adebayo Taofiq, the Public Relations Officer of LASTMA, on Sunday. The statement mentioned that the Lagos State Civil Service Commission approved the recommendations made by the Personnel Management Board regarding the seven LASTMA officers who were implicated during a meeting on Tuesday, August 19, 2023.
Taofiq stated, "Five LASTMA officials, found guilty of corruption, have been issued letters of termination of appointment, while the remaining two have received letters of reprimand for their absence from duty posts without leave."
Taofiq cited the agency's acting General Manager, Bakare Oki, who mentioned that the disciplinary measures taken align with the Lagos State Civil Service Rules and Regulations. Oki emphasized the importance of the public sharing their experiences, both positive and negative, and providing relevant evidence to help the agency enhance its operations.
He urged Lagos drivers to consistently adhere to the state traffic law to prevent violating it and encountering the specified penalties outlined in the legislation. Additionally, he assured the public that these complaints would be promptly and impartially addressed.
Taofiq mentioned that the cases involving the remaining 14 indicted LASTMA officials are pending further administrative review. He urged the driving public to adhere to the Lagos State Transportation Sector Reform Law 2018, emphasizing its importance in achieving Greater Lagos and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's goals in the THEMES Plus Development Agenda, particularly in Traffic Management and Transportation.

"He assured the public that such complaints will be thoroughly investigated promptly.
While urging all members of the motoring public to adhere to the Lagos State Transportation Sector Reform Law 2018, Mr. Bakare Oki revealed that cases involving the remaining 14 indicted LASTMA officials are currently undergoing further administrative review."
