Mo Ibrahim, Sudan-born telecoms billionaire, said that the International Criminal Court (ICC) should drop charges against Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir if he agrees to step down.
Ibrahim has made this known to BBC.
He was talking in reaction to protests in Sudan demanding Mr Bashir to resign.
Ibrahim said: “If that is going to save lives, if it is going to save us from a bloody civil war, let the man go in peace.
“Although I hate impunity, I mean people should be punished for their sins, but if that’s the price of letting the man go, fine.”
