Nicholas Bett, Kenya’s former 400m hurdles world champion, has died following a car crash on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old just returned from the Africa Championships in Nigeria when he died in Nandi, north west Kenya.
Kenya’s sports minister, Rashid Echesa, undefined his condolences to the Bett family and posted on Twitter: “Former 400m hurdles World Champion Nicholas Bett has died in a road accident in Nandi County. On behalf of the sporting fraternity and @moscakenya I convey my sincerest condolences to his family. Rest in peace ”
Bett made a history when he becomes the first Kenyan to win a world gold at a distance shorter than 800m in China.
