Afrobeats @ Somerset House kicks off tomorrow


altHotly-tipped to be the biggest Afrobeats event of the summer, Afrobeats @ Somerset House will kick off at the iconic venue in the heart of London's capital tomorrow night (Saturday), with some of the biggest acts in African music set to make appearances at the landmark occasion.


The event, hosted by popular Choice FM DJ Abrantee, will kickstart the Somerset Summer Series programme and simultaneously place the historic international venue on the Afrobeats map.


Afrobeats @ Somerset House will celebrate the explosion of Afrobeat music and culture in the UK and is is part of a series including the likes of US Soul sensation Jill Scott and rising UK singer/RINSE FM favourite Katy B.


Afrobeats has been described as the hottest music genre of the 21st century by the likes of The Guardian, and a selection of the scene's A-list DJs will spin tracks from some of the best in the business from 7pm until the midnight.


Opening up the show will be the Ablade cultural dance troop, while DJs Nyari, Afro B, DNA, Alordia, Solid Vybz, Amour, Ray P, Wavy J, Random and of course DJ Abrantee will look to entertain the diverse elite crowd with a mix of the biggest tunes out now.


Meanwhile, the 'First Lady of Afrobeats' May7ven will also look to raise the roof for the occasion, as will her Nigerian compatriot Olu Mountain and Team Afrobeats UK's Vibe Squad.
