Shippers plan partnership with industry players to address challenges
The Lagos State Shippers Association has pledged to collaborate with key industry stakeholders to address the shipping sector's challenges.Fehintola Mulikat, the association's newly elected president, made the announcement on Friday, according to The Punch.
Mulikat expressed her concern with the myriad issues confronting the port and shipping businesses.
"We have faced many problems, and some agencies are exploiting shippers," Mulikat admitted.
She stated that it is time for shippers to collaborate to address these concerns.
"How do we create the employment expected in the Marine and Blue Economy in an environment that doesn't support shipping?" Mulikat inquired.
The new SALS president announced ambitions to engage with the Nigeria Customs Service, Nigerian Ports Authority, terminal operators, and professional organisations such as the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration Nigeria.
"As a former president of CIOTA Nigeria, I have been privileged to have access to vital information about core areas of seaport and transportation," she told me.
