The International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) revealed that the killings of its aid workers by Boko Haram insurgents will not stop the organisation from rendering its services to Nigeria.
Patricia Danzi, ICRC Regional Director for Africa said this while speaking to newsmen in Maiduguri while commiserating with the families of Saifura Khorsa and Hauwa Liman, two of the aid workers killed by Boko Haram insurgents in Borno, NAN reports.
He said: “We have to rethink on how we can access difficult terrain and make our workers safe as much as possible.
“Despite the sad mood; we see the need to work to assist the people in need because this is what the two staff died for, they worked for the people that are displaced, the people that need health care services.
“All across Nigeria, both in Maiduguri and Abuja, over 99 percent of the people do not understand the reason for the killings.
“Nigerians have continued to say this is not what we stand for. Nigerian is over 180 million people and they do not know the reason for this”.
