South Africa – The Secretary-General of African National Congress(ANC), Ace Magashule, revealed that a delegation visited President Jacob Zuma and asked him to step down.
Magashule has made this known during a press conference, he said: “The president… agreed in principle to resign under a proposed timeframe extending from three to six months.
“South Africa is going through a period of uncertainty and anxiety.
“The [National Executive Committee] firmly believes the situation requires us to act firmly.”
After the press conference, the ANC tweeted its decision to recall Mr Zuma.
It tweeted: “#Magashule The NEC therefore decided as follows: To recall its deployee, Comrade Jacob Zuma, in accordance with Rule 220.127.116.11 of the ANC Constitution, which accords the NEC the authority to “recall any public representative”.”
